Is it my account or just a Facebook account?

I have an old facebook account but haven't gotten on it in forever, so I made a new one. The new facebook account won't let me search for people. I'll type in their name and when I hit enter the results come up as blank. I looked on my old facebook page and the old one doesn't have that problem. Is it my new account that is the problem? Or is it facebook? I'm sure other people have asked about this problem before if it's a glitch, but I'd really like to know how long it will take facebook to fix this. Thanks for your answers.

maybe you are trying to look for accounts which has private settings, try using your old facebook account and tell your friends to add for your new facebook

It may be because you were friends on there last facebook and they have certain privacy settings. So they might need to friend request you.
