public relations degree with dwi conviction?

Thinking about getting a degree in public relations but have a prior DWI conviction seven years ago. Would this affect me to find a career with a company to the point that I should maybe pursue a different career?

I think it just depends on the company sometimes. But since you are dealing with ((public)) relations maybe so. Careers like those strongly do background checks. Even go as far as checking for what you have on social media sites. I am a college student trying to fufill my career in PR after I graduate in 2 years. I had applied for an internship and had a interview and two days later that same interviewer viewed my Linkedin page.((Linkedin tells people who viewed your page so thats how I knew)) I never told them I had a Linkedin or anything but boom! they found me. I have nothing bad on my page but I think with things like that people pay attention to that because it deals with the public. Because they like to know who theyare hiring and what/who makes their firm look good.
