Boys and girls cutting themselves, depression, drug and alcohol abuse stemming from a feeling that they are not good enough, because everywhere they look, from entertainment all the way to the music, is surrounded by thin people who's images\videos were airbrushed to look beautiful. Even the nerdy boys and girls in the movies are wearing tons of makeup.

And that is just for us children. Don't get me started on the older generations.

Increase in communication and social activity. Example, how twitter helped raise money for a girl diagnosed with terminal cancer to have her wish before she passed away. It helps raises awareness faster, communicate faster, rally our thoughts faster and evolve a community faster. Mainly, it is speed and efficiency. Other than that is subjective to individuals.
