Question about people with in excess of 100 friends on facebook?

Is this thing just a popularity contest. Nobody has 100 friends, at least not ones you are close to or talk to on a regular basis. Is it actually the reverse of what u think..people spend too much time on the computer searching for people to add. Kinda like who has the biggest dic? I know people that have friends on their facebook or added friends they r enemys with now...kinda sad..just a numbers game.

I have over 100 friends on facebook, all of them I know personally, some are highschool classmates, some are co workers, some are just friends, and about 1/3 of them are family members (aunts uncles, cousins, etc) but It is to keep in touch with them

I agree with you but if you only have 45 friends people judge that even if its family and friends you are close with for some reason if somebody has 300 friends they think they are cool. It's like online gaming and people bragging about how good they are or their high scores to me that shows they spend all their free time playing xbox live.

I have over a 100 friends and they're all people who I've known and had multiple conversations. I don't add people who I met one time or kinda knew from school, because I think that's weird. You can have a large number of friends and not think of it as a popularity contest.

I think it's sad when people assume that all people with more than 100 friends are out to prove their popularity online.

Alot of people use facebook to let know people how many friends they have, but i dont do that. I have 210 friends and compared to the people i know thats nothing, i mean i know someone that has 1910 friends!!! haha
Usually, facebook is used to see people's photos, videos, stay in touch not only with people u see everyday but with people that live in other cities,etc.
