Social media can play a role in an SEO strategy. This role can be creating a fan base, generating traffic with social media advertising. Social networks also help with generating traffic from other site such as social networking.

Another way is sharing content on social networks like facebook share and retweet (twitter). Its a great way for building a community and backlinks for your site Smile

There's not really much of a connection. However, if you manage to get a lot of visitors to your site because of social media, you can boost the ranking of your pages on the search engines because Google will see your page as an authority.

Other than that, social media and SEO are considered separate traffic functions.

Social Media is actually an important part of Organic SEO. These are networking sites you can link back to each other - and to your website. There are over 50 sites I can think of off the top of my head that you can link to your site, and back to twitter, facebook etc. The more times you connect the dots with the sites, and the more active you are on these sites (linking them saves time - what you post goes everywhere) helps the search engines find you, and the customers! Organic SEO takes time, but is well worth the trouble. Because Google (for instance) changes algorithms a few times a year without announcing it, you can't depend strictly on being submitted to the search engines just once when your site goes live. Here's a tip: Google Analytics is free - and you can sign up and link your website. This allows you to see where the traffic is coming from, how much is referrals from your Social Media sites, and which search engines are driving that traffic. I also recommend changing the content and adding pages on your site every so often, and resubmitting them to the search engines to be re crawled. Hope that helps!

SEO is a part of social media. Using sites like facebook, youtube, and other social networking sites to promote your site is a good way. But the success of using these sites depends on how you use it and how you will approached your viewers to get them visits your site or page.

Thanks
