I deleted my Facebook account, but it still seems active?

I deleted my Facebook account over a year ago, but I still appear in the Facebook directory, people can still send me messages, etc. It looks like it's still active.

This is the exact opposite of what I want to do with my supposedly deleted account. I want it to be gone. I thought I did that a year ago.

I've been on Facebook's help page about a million times, and some people have asked the same question I'm asking, but the question has gone unanswered.

I want to permanently delete my Facebook account. I can not log back in, I don't have the information.

Please don't redirect me to Facebook's help page. I'd really like to speak to a Facebook worker about this.

Edit: My friends have been telling me in person/over text that they can send me messages on facebook.
Believe it or not, there are other ways to communicate other than facebook.

how do you know people can still send you messages? the only way you could know that is if you logged in, and if you logged in, you canceled the deletion process

If you deleted and not deactivate, it should have disappeared in 14 days, but deactivate you just need to log in again to reactivate, the Delete is a bit harder to find, then again I have had a 4 year absence to FB just came back, and it didn't take much to get my page up and running again . Actually I was surprised , just after New Years they did a year in review and every pic I liked was stored, heaven knows the keep all you say??

If you logged in once after deleting the account it will have made it active again. you should have disabled it first, then deleted it. Then you needed to leave it alone for at east 2 weeks.
