my bf was with his ex for 6 years, he claims the last 5 years were hell and he still wonders why he stayed so long...he hardly brings her up to me and he's never given me reason to think he would cheat but for weeks at the beginning of our relationship she would constantly text and call him saying she missed him and wanted him back he told her no and he was interested in someone else and finally after a month she stopped...my problem is that there friends on Facebook and he promised me he would delete her but he also promised her +before he promised me) he wouldn't because he wouldn't rid her of his life completely because that's not the type of man he is but I still want him to because I don't think it's right to keep someone who is disrespectful and flirted with him after she knew he moved on with someone new on his Facebook and I try to tell him its not that I don't trust him I just really hate her for that and he doesn't understand just says Im not cheating so what's the problem?

Don't be that type of girlfriend. IT IS FACEBOOK. it's not like they're living in the same house. also to, if you are one of those facebook girls who stalks their boyfriends wall. always post loving stuff on his wall so she can see it and be jealous.
