how to stop facebook from sending notification emails?
This is kinda new case for me.
A colleague has been receiving notification emails from facebook to her email address that never ever used to register on facebook.
The email address is company related and she's smart enough not to use it to anything silly on the internet.

Facebook started sending her notification emails after somebody tagged her in a photo on facebook.
Which is, kinda wierd.

I tried to check whether her email ever been used to register facebook account by trying to recover password with her email address as reference.
But we got a page telling us that the email address has never been used to register an account.

So, in short, I've got this situation :
- An email address that never been used to register a facebook account
- Facebook has been sending notification emails to this email address.
- This happen after somebody tag a photo. As the notification emails say "A-Person-Name has tagged a photo of you"

Which makes me wonder how can it be possible.... Sad

Thank you
- That is the problem. I know how to manage a facebook account generally. But this email address has NEVER been used to register a facebook account and IS NOT REGISTERED in facebook, proven as I got "invalid email address" error message when I tried to go to "Forgot password" link ( for checking )
- That means, I cant login using the email address as this email address which keeps getting notification emails from facebook, IS NOT REGISTERED in facebook
- Ok, will try to create facebook account using that email address. This is silly tho n really annoying. I'll post the progress as soon as possible.

I actually found this out recently. If you send a nonFB member an e-mail with a link to a photo on FB and they click to it, that person automatically has an "account." I've had four friends who have "accounts" of FB who never started accounts. I don't know if this is a glitch or if it's FB's way of getting more members, and I don't think many people are aware of this. Though your friend never saw these photos at all?

In any case, my suggestion would be for your friend to actually open a FB account, using this e-mail address to which she's getting e-mails. If she keeps the account, she can just change the e-mail address in Account Settings so that when she's tagged in the future, her name will be attached to the new e-mail. Or she can choose to not receive notification. If she decides NOT to keep the account, she can just terminate the account immediately, voiding the e-mail address that she's getting e-mails to. There's no guarantee that she wouldn't be tagged in the future, but she should mention this to her friends.

I've not tried either method, but it seems to make the most sense to me.
