Hi, does anyone have any advice on how to get my photography more well known?
I've been interested in photography for a few years now. I have a growing number of followers on instagram, close to a 1000 which I hope to expand in the future. Last year, my photography was also featured on the channel 5 news website, having come third in a competition. I'll be thankful for any advice you could give me, as to how I can get my photography more out there. Thankyou for you time.
Thanks for your answers. Matt, thankyou for you time, I'd basically just like to get my photography more out there on all social networking sites, with instagram as my main page, and later maybe set up a blog or webiste. Thankyou for your advice!

Social Media is the answer, if possible, make an account in every website there is, facebook. youtube. twitter tumblr etc, and produce content in each of these websites, this will allow you to reach a wider range of audiences of different backgrounds and cultures. perhaps make exclusive content on one of these websites to make your fans eager to visit your other pages to see what you did next. perhaps ask your fans to like and share, friends and family can help with that as well.

What are your goals? Do you just want more instgram followers? Then follow other prolific users. Tweet, a lot. Hashtag everything.

Yes, I'll agree with Majid that these days social media is a great way to expose your photography and get a lot of good feedback as well. Google Plus is especially suited for photographers and some great ones are showing off their work there. There are a number of G+ communities within it that are oriented toward photography and photo posts.

I find there are still a lot of really good web forums around that appeal to more specific interests, such as your camera, for instance. A lot of the people in these forums have been there for a long time and are very active with comments and feedback.

Photo posting sites like Flickr still have a lot of interaction between users. These sites are searched constantly, too, so a photo with the right subject will be seen. Always make sure you title your image well and fill out the tag information thoroughly. You might even consider posting some images under the Creative Commons license, which will allow people to use your images in their blogs and such on the web, if they include your name and link. This can help widen your reach as well.
