Suicidal friend! Please help im so confused...?

So my best friend of 17 years was dating this guy and while they were dating he friended me on facebook. They dated for about 7 months and he was very controlling and didnt trust her at all. So she broke up with him. He began calling her all the time and showing up at her house so she blocked him on everything. She was willing to talk until he went after her friends to get through to her. Finally he worked his way up to me...her closest friend....He told me he was suicidal and i felt the need to help him. I wouldnt be able to live with myself if he committed suicide and i didnt try to at least help. So ive been talking to him for two months....and he basically threatened suicide every day and was constantly telling me he had just had 20 or more pills. but to months later hes telling me if she finds a new boyfriend he will kill her family ( oh and everyday he had told me he will kill himself on her doorstep) and he's gotten increasingly aggressive and keeps putting me in tough spots. Hes using me to get to her and demands me to text her or call her to get her to call him or date him again. but he tells me things like "GET HER TO F****** CALL ME THIS INSTANT! YOU HAVE 5 MINUTES BEFORE I KILL MYSELF" "CALL HER F****** NOW (times a hundred because he will just copy and paste it and keep sending it to me ) " and then he keeps harassing me and honestly this is starting to have really negative effects on me.it is literally draining the life out of me and my parents and friends and teachers are starting to see it. I've been eating less and less and i havent been able to sleep. He refuses to listen to me. that he has a shot at life. But he keeps telling me he dosnt that no girl will ever love him and thats he's fat and ugly. Please i cant deal with this anymore. I dont want to let him die without trying to help him but he refuses to get help and refuses to change his mind. and i want to call the cops or something but he said if they show up he will know its me and come after me. please i want to block him. i havent answered him in a while (like two hours) and the last thing he wrote me is "I'm going to F****** kill myself now because you wont help me or get her to call me." i cant deal with this anymore. I really can't. Someone please give me advice....i dont want to let him die....but i also cant ruin my life...

He sounds obsessed with her and i mean MAJORLY obsessed! And i don't think he is suicidal at all, does he have a history of attempted suicide? Didn't think so.. Suicidal people don't usually threaten to harm or kill others. He's using you because he knows you have known him 17 years and that you care about him so he is using the "suicidal act" against you to make you feel you have no choice but to call his ex. If his ex doesn't like him anymore, then tough luck for him, that's life, you get scarred in life, it happens to everyone. He can't force her to get back with him

Keep the texts and messages he sends you and go to the police immediately. Either his life or her life is in danger.

He is controlling and obsessive.. You need to keep everything and call the police. He needs help and you don't need to get in that plus you don't need to get your friend into that.He is trying to get attention. If he is telling you he is going to kill his self then most likely he won't. if he does then it is not your fault. or your friends. the guy needs help than you can give him.
