PC HDMI and Optical Drive not detected. Help?

So its a PC i built using new and old parts. http://pcpartpicker.com/b/AZb

Both are connected to the MOBO so maybe thats it? Maybe the optical finally died? i made sure connections are secure. its not the cables.
P.S. The optical still gets power because it will open to accept the disc but the drive wont show in "my computer"

So you properly connected your optical drive to the power supply and the motherboard? If you did, then perform driver updates for all of your components.

While the drive may be powered is the SATA cable connect to the mobo? Also check for new drivers online via device manager.
