Help with Facebook mobile please!?

I'm not sure if you'll know what I'm talking about, BUT, when you are on the facebook home page, in the left-hand column with the advertisements there is the section saying 'Try Facebook Mobile! - et cetera' and I have tried multiple times to enter my mobile number and it says I will receive a text message but I don't.

I'm in Australia and the format it asks for it to be entered is +61-xxx-xxx-xxx
I tried a few ways to enter it but I felt like it wouldn't work because it seems there are too many numbers.

I just want to know what I should do or if there are things that I've missed.
Help if you can!
Hopefully there are other Australians out there who use facebook mobile and have gone through the same processes as me.
I want this to work!

Sorry, I just realised I'd not noticed quite exactly what was wrong.

It seems to me that the problem must be that it's asking for it in the format +61-xxx-xxx-xxxx

and no Australian mobile number fits into that.

I'm sure you've probably done this, but just in case...

The +61 basically replaces the 0 at the start of your mobile number...
eg. If your mobile number is 0417 885 669 then its +61 417 885 669, if that makes sense.
