Canceled Facebook account?

I'm thinking about canceling my Facebook account. It feels like it's slowly taking over my life, all these updates, messages etc. So, my question is...if a cancel my account does it stay canceled (I've seen friends whom canceled their account and then suddenly they were back and nothing had changes on their account)? I've began making backups of my photos but how can I do the same with my videos, is that not possible?

Click on Settings > Account Settings > Deactivate Account.

Deactivating account does not DELETE your account. It simply turns your account off so that it seems as if your account does not exist. Should you choose to use Facebook again in the future, all you need to do is log back in and reactivate your account.

You can't cancel your account on facebook. You can just deactivate it for as long as you want. Your photos and videos won't be lost. You can reactivate it whenever you want and nothing on your account will be changed!
