Product design is studied from numerous aspects.

Mechanical engineering deals with the following aspects:

- Stress analysis: mechanical stress, thermal stresses, etc.
- Mechanics (statics and dynamics) analysis: loads and material capacity required to sustain those loads.
- Manufacturing processes: how to make the product.
- Materials and fabrics used to design the product.
- Quality control: meeting and exceeding customer expectation with minimal error.

Industrial engineering courses deals with "Industrial Design", which is more about aesthetic aspects of the product.

"Industrial Design is the use of both applied art and applied science to improve the aesthetics, ergonomics, functionality, and/or usability of a product, and it may also be used to improve the product's marketability and even production".

A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) is graduate academic degree awarded for completed courses that generally last three to five years.

Different universities teach different courses, but in general, B.Sc. include basic sciences, like maths, calculus, chemistry, physics; from basic to advanced levels.

Engineering is the application of science into real life projects.

wiki definition:
"Engineering is the application of scientific, economic, social, and practical knowledge in order to design, build, maintain, and improve structures, machines, devices, systems, materials and processes. "

The conclusion: Product design is studied from various aspects, from concept, costs, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, sales, production, ergonomics. There's no one degree that covers all aspects.
