Facebook notifications on the HTC 8X help?

I've recently got the HTC Windows 8X phone and have downloaded the official Facebook app, however when i get a new message and my phone is locked, my phone does not buzz or send me a notification. Is there a unofficial app that can do this or is there any other way of enabling this?

Go onto the app and then swipe to the right to bring the menu up. Select messages and then press the menu button on your phone. Make sure the notification settings are as you would like them
