When you delete a message in Facebook, does it affect your friend's chat-box as well?

Okay, so I send my friend a message on Facebook and then I delete that particular message from my chat. So, if I do that, does the message still appear on my friend's chat or does something happen there too? I mean, can he still see it and reply likewise?

When you delete a private message you can no longer see it, however your friend can indeed see that message, only your message has been deleted.

If the message is public than you can delete it and others can't see it.

it deletes only your because the message is downloaded into your receiver's computer. So when your receiver sends a message via Facebook to you. That message is downloaded into your system and is displayed.
So when you delete your message, you only delete your own. The receiver will have copy of the Facebook conversation. .
