Is there a demand for male social workers?
I wouldnt want to be a social worker per say, but if the degree in social work can be used for other things such as health advocacy and public policy then yes the degree is worth it. My question is what is the actual job market demand for male social workers and guidance counselors?

Yes I would say there is.for example In my city there are many homeless men that are not getting the help they need as fast because they are usually not single parents, so the benefits are limited. There are way more woman with children in shelters and the men don't have many options. It would be an amazing job to help people in need, and as a male you can reach out and relate with other males in less fortunate situations. I think you'd do well if you put your heart into it. The men could look up to you as a role model. Guys need support systems of other positive males to encourage them, and as a social worker you will definatley be able to connect and help better someone's life.
