Stupid Facebook group notifications?

How do I stop notification appearing on my Facebook timeline from a group I joined which sells stuff from my local area.. I want to be in the group but only want the updates when I choose to look at them in the group???

Open the group. In the top right corner under the banner (if any) there will be a bar that says "Notifications" Click that and select Off.

You have to go to the group page. When on the group page, look to the top right of your screen. There at the top right of your screen, there will be something that says, "Notifications". Click on it and it will give you the option of: All Posts, Friends' Posts, or Off.
