Question about my new android with facebook?

Okay so I just recently got the samsung galaxy S2 android phone. I downloaded the Facebook app for it. Which is great. However, before hand, I was doing the notifications old school. Facebook was sending me text messages to my phone letting me know that so-n-so commented on my whatever. Anyways. My question is whether or not I can get my phone to notify me of a facebook notification without it being an actual text? I want it to "ping" like a text message would, but I just want it to be a notification that would link me to my facebook. Is there any way to do this? Or something similar? I thought I had a friend who had this with her phone, but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated!

okay first of all you need to unsubscribe from the Facebook alerts and then go to the facebook application when your in the news feed screen press the menu button on the bottom then settings and then check where it says "vibrate" and "phone LED" and then you can select the notification ringtone good luck!
