Can I bring an old fake Facebook profile to a lawyer?
I'm in Michigan and my ex girlfriend made a fake Facebook profile about me, making me out to be all these horrible things, a rapist being one of them. And no, I did not rape my girlfriend, I've found out she's done something like this to every guy she has ever been with. After myself and everyone I know reporting it, its still sitting there. I brought a print out of it to the local police department and the officer shown he was surprisingly already on my side about it before I had to make any disclaimers of my character in comparison to the impersonating profile by stating "Dude, you seriously need to get this bitch out of your life...". However, I was told that unfortunately Since there isn't any direct threat or child porn involved there's nothing they could do. He said that laws limit them from how much of an obligation they have with "Facebook problems" because "There's not enough time, money, or men in any department to handle every social networking issue"

This account is a year old now and still up and still affecting me. Is it too late to just being it to a lawyer? the only reason I haven't is because my ex is seriously insane and I am extremely worried of what else she may be capable of if she retaliates against me for doing something about it.

This is libel and defamation of character and you definitely have grounds to sue her. Not to mention if she is using your photos it's also copyright infringement and invasion of privacy. Go to a lawyer - if the site is still up, then she is breaking the law. You can seek civil damages against her

Report that profile to facebook officials and if they are not doing anything to delete that profile then you should report this to cyber crime cell. Cases related to internet come under cyber crime cell and they can help you in this matter.
