cat is practically killing herself, dad won't take her to the vet?
She has a bad flea problem. He puts medicine on her but it doesn't really do anything. She has gnawed almost all of the hair off of her back and tail. She has scabs all over her neck and scratches until she bleeds. It's been an issue for over a year now but he wont take her to the vet because he's too cheap. Right now he's loaded with money but he still won't do it. My cat could potentially die because of this what do I do?

contact the SPCA. This is grounds for animal neglect charges. HE is responsible for the cat if you are a minor. Meaning he HAS to care for the cat, which includes medical treatment.

If the cat dies, then he can get slapped with animal cruelty charges.

You can report him anonymously.

Go to PetSmart, and get some flea shampoo. It isn't that expensive. I don't know the names of the best choices, but someone else here will tell you, I'm sure.

Dawn dishsoap (the regular blue kind) is cheap and will kill fleas without harming your cat. BUT, you have to treat wherever she lives too. Is she indoor only or an outside cat? If outside cat, bathing her isn't going to help if your father won't buy a preventative for her. What medicine is he using on her? How old are you, can you get a job or mow lawns or something to earn enough to buy a preventative?

Get a nit comb at the pet store or the vet a metal one, plastic wont get anything. And get a bowl of soapy water. Youll need help so get a friend or your dad to hold kitty down while you gently run the comb all over the cats body. Do this every night! You will get the fleas and eggs put everything you get from the comb straight into the bowl of water. It will kill the fleas in a few seconds and will kill eggs and disolve the flea poop which looks like dirt. Also bathe your cat in warm water. Just make sure that your house is warm enough to do this. If youve never baathed this cat before get help. Use a mild soap!

The cat needs a vet. If he wont take it then call a rescue and have them take the cat on grounds of animal creulity

WTF. You should NEVER put ANY kind of medication on her unless insisted by a vet. She has been suffering for a year, how would you feel if you had lice and no one helped you? You must contact someone asap, search on google or a facebook page and see if anyone is willing to help... Or you can surrender her to the emergency , so someone can take proper care of it... Vets are very flexible with money.... Your Dad is just making himself pay more because it's getting worst.... The longer you wait, the more money you pay. The medication at like safeway or petco and stuff is only like $50... Really wtf.... I'm tired of seeing people having their pets suffer. If you can't take proper care of it, then I don't understand why you even have it.

And plus, if you keep letting it suffer, your Dad can actually get in trouble for not taking proper medical care, which is against the law if you let an animal suffer.
