is facebook selling my data to twitter?

Hi,

I just made a twitter account using the same email address as the one i use to log into facebook. for privacy reasons i use a different name on twitter. 5 minutes after signing up, It came up with a suggestion to follow a friend that's also my friend on facebook. I thought hmm maybe he's famous on twitter and that's why he came up. I then checked his profile and he only has 200 followers. Why did this happen on twitter? does facebook give my friends list to twitter based on my email login? please note i never typed in his name or anything to do with his twitter account.
