Facebook messages through text instead of just notification?

I have a facebook app on my android, and when I get a message on Facebook, it just sends me a notification. Is there any way to actually get my messages through a text instead of a notification so I don't have to get online every time?

You can sign up for Facebook mobile.... i used to have it & it sends statuses to your phone (Only the people you subscribe to) & notifications. i cant remember how to sign up for it but i dont remember it being hard! hope this helps....lol
