Fake profiles on Facebook?

Is it illegal to make fake fb profile ? Can anyone tell the rules and way to know which profile is fake?
What if the person make fake profile just to share their knowledge and views about diff topics but not for monetary gain/does not uses personal harsh comments/does not uses anyone's pictures?
If anyone psychologist here, then tell me why some people fear to share their knowledge from real name? If you have talent then show it nah? Please share your views ..........

yeah you are right soniya, there is no need to hide your identity if you wanna share something good with everybody! but on social networks, people usually abuse/comments with their fake profiles, i think thats only the reason hiding real identity! and if you wanna share some useful information/stuffs with fake profile, NO there is no need to worry, you can share! just avoid making fun on any real life hero or on any community.best of luck

Facebook is a social network, nobody shares their knowledge, it's mostly idiotic nonsense.

Let me first start with, see every body who's in fb doesnt upload their photo's or else open with their privacy settings doesnt mean they all fake. Some sort of people doesnt like strangers to know who are they, what sort of likes, photos, following and so on they have .. Second, apart from all these, if they had any sort of f'ship via fb or any social networks, they cant sure wheather the person's intention is good. So, for these reasons mostly they do hide their identities. Still some people profile may really fake, that is different from these. And you asked, 'If you are talent then show it naah?' Facebook is not only the place to show ones talent .. Bcoz, its hard to find who is good and who is bad!! One may upto anything ..That's why many fear to disclose their identity ..

as a rule,facebook requires a person to use their real name,someone I knew was booted off facebook for not using his real name,i knw I use my real name.

Facebook requires you to use your real name AND have a phone number to set up your account. If they think your name is fake, they will close your account unless you can provide a copy of a government issued ID (birth certificate, passport or drivers license) that has the same name as on the account
Not everyone has to put up a picture on Facebook. I have a friend who works for the prison system whose profile doesn't have her pictures on it as she doesn't want any prisoners to be able to find her.
You can also set your profile to private so ONLY your friends are allowed to see what's on your page. Nobody but my friends can see my posts or photos
