What's the best e ink reader for web browsing?

I have Kindle DX but its experimental browser does not work in my country. I really want an e ink reader with which I can read mail and possibly chat on facebook. Is there such a thing? Would it be sony or kobo or which one?

I don't think an electronic ink reader is the way to go when it comes to facebook and reading emails.

If you mean voice chat, none. I don't think any of the current eInk readers have audio.

If all you care about is browsing then the Kobo Aura's browser may be a bit more functional than the Kindle Paperwhite's (according to this one article).

But keep in mind that eInk is not going to do animation, videos, audio.

I have a Paperwhite (first edition) and with its browser (over Wifi) I just went to facebook.com (it automatically took me to m.facebook.com, the mobile site) and I logged into my Facebook account - looked simple but fine.

As for email - I used to use Gmail (via the browser) on my Kindles. I would NOT count on any mobile browser working with Yahoo mail at this point because Yahoo mail keeps breaking for people on all kinds of devices. Make a Gmail account and you could use that.

If you are in the US I would go with Kindle Paperwhite. I would not recommend the $69 Kindle if you intend to browse because typing will be a nightmare on a non-touch device - you would have to cursor around an array of letters to get to the next letter you want then select it, cursor to the next letter, etc.

Why Kindle - Amazon Kindle has the largest market share in the US and I think they have the most free and super-low-cost new author and indie author books. In the US they are the first/main place writers want to publish ebooks. Also Amazon ebooks (like bestsellers) seem to cost at least $2 less versus the same book on Kobo.

And right at Amazon you can find huge free lists - go to the main Kindle Books page, pick Best Sellers, pick Top 100 Free - you get this list:

And from there you can then choose categories ont he left to see the top 100 free in a category.

You need to decide whether you want the tablet or the reader, as reader is something you would be able to use strictly for reading, whereas a Tablet is something you get to use facebook, watch movies and do other fun stuff on.

Plus you can also read on it.
