What should I read to self-educate in marketing research?
I'm trying to transition into a career in marketing research/consumer insights, and I'm looking for a good reading list to familiarize myself with the basics. What are some suggestions for books, publications, blogs, Twitter feeds, etc? My interest is more in the realm of consumer behavior and psychology if that helps.

Thank you!

I don't know anything about marketing I know part of marketing since I'm doing a service community business like YouTube for example. Anyway, If you are interested in market like I am i suggest study what areas of business you would want to do for yourself for me its a social network so I need to learn all the different programmings like JavaScript, php, and css and learn how to use different software such as Dreamweavers and Photoshop. Do a Google search "[insert types] book for Dummies" good luck in marketing research hope you make a lot of money out there someday.

Hi there,

In order to self-educate yourself in Marketing research, you must read and try to understand the different ways that research companies collect their information to analyze and to produce results. There are two main ways of data collection. One is the Primary Data, that is information already exists in books, previous marketing research, journals, newspapers, government institutions etc. The other way is the collection of the secondary data, that is taking the information from its source i.e. preparing questionnaires, and sending people out to speak to the targeted group and write down the information given by them. Then, all these questionnaires have to be studied and analyzed to supply companies with relevant and updated information to decide strategies and take action.
