Shopping for a mobile phone... how do I know which one is right for me?
Today, as most of my searches for a mobile phone usually start, my phone died when I was the least prepared for it. And I have no idea what I want to buy to replace it! I've never been on the ball when it comes to comparing gadgets, much less planning to buy them. I tend to just buy an affordable phone that works well, has a large memory, and supports a lot of multimedia.

I've been considering the iPhone for quite awhile, because my dad and boyfriend use them. It has most of the features I want, and I'm comfortable using it. But my country doesn't support 3G very well just yet. Plus, the price is kind of beyond what I'm willing to spend right now... although my dad would happily contribute financially if I'm going for it. But at least I should be able to show my dad that I've done my homework in researching the market (although I know I haven't been very good at it).

Most of my friends use BlackBerry, which is also savvy and more affordable than iPhone, but I'm not as crazy about it. I tried a demo of Samsung Corby but I absolutely loathe it. And I have no clue about other smartphones. My boyfriend suggests getting something with an Android operating system, but I haven't really tried any phones that have it so I don't know if I actually would like it.

Is there any websites out there where I can just get an easy, user-friendly comparison of some of the most versatile smartphones out there? Can I just take a quiz somewhere about my mobile phone habits, internet usage patterns, profession and lifestyle; and then it just tells me two or three phones that I might like, how much they cost, and what they can do for me. But if what I'm asking is just some ridiculously whimsical fantasy, then at least I'd like to come across a website where I can have practical comparisons in a table format or so.

Here are some features that I'm looking for in a mobile phone:
- HUGE memory
- High resolution graphics and sound
- Internet access: browsing, facebook, twitter, various instant messengers, skype, push e-mail, instant access to news portals
- Photo and video camera, ideally of 3.0 megapixels, but 2.0 is fine too
- Downloads and plays music, videos, and podcasts; and lets me organize my own playlists
- Records voice even to extended playback, in excellent quality
- Would be great if it also comes with simple apps to edit sound, video, and pictures
- Comes with a calendar which can be used to organize schedules, make to-do-lists, and prompt me to do things on time
- Touch screen, with QWERTY support
- Just a whole package that I'm absolutely in love with!

Thank you Smile

I have used treo's with palm os, windows mobile, Blackberry's and now Android devices.

I love my android device and won't go back.
It seems as though you really should be looking at an android device because with your list of features (both touch and qwerty on the same device) you have either a palm pre/ pixi with web os or an android device.

I myself use an all touchscreen device (HTC Incredible) and love it.
Didn't take long to get used to it.

I took the second quiz yesterday. Wasn't 100% satisfied with the results (AT&T) but they gave me some ideas. SERIOUSLY me and you are in the almost EXACT same boat! I just have to have more of a smart phone for keeping in touch with family and college online.

I am using the Motorola Karma QA1 and it went kaputz on me yesterday. My screen is not showing up and I have no idea why. I have been through nokias, pantechs, samsungs, sony's, and even one very unique phone for international travel... I am thinking I need to stop buying the cheaper phones and just invest in a good phone since really I use it for everything. I hope you get good answers because I'm looking for a new one too. My husband has the Samsung Impression (I think?) and I'm considering just getting the same phone or something Samsung again.

Well I would recommend the HTC Hero because it has everything that was on your list. I am using a Hero right now to answer your question and it works really fast.
