How do I tell what happened?

I went on my messenger app the other day to talk to my friend, when I tried send the message, it told me I didn't have permission to chat with this person. Ive asked around and all I've heard was that she blocked me. But I have been looking around on here, and saw, people have the same thing, but it's because the person deactivated their account. I thought that one if us accidentally deleted one another, because for us to be friends on Facebook, she has to friend me because I can't ever find her, or send her a message because she's not my friend. I just want to find out what happened because we were having a somewhat important conversation, but then out of nowhere I wasn't able to talk to her any more. Plus I'm not to "tech savvy". But I just ended up regrettably deleting her cause I figured she was pissed at me or something. Sorry for this being very long, just trying to explain myself as best as possible.
