You can either delete your account permanently or deactivate it on a temporary basis.
To delete it permanently, go to account settings then choose detele account.
To deactivate, choose account settings, then go to the privacy tab on the left, then select deactivate.
If you choose to deactivate your account, your account will be deactivated as long as you don't log in again. The next time you log in, your account gets reactivated again and you can use your account as you used to previously.
