How To Get Into Marketing and Advertising?
Hello!
I'm writing because I'm interested in having a career in marketing and advertising. I graduated college in 2010 with a BA in psychology and a terrible gpa of 3.0(I got really depressed due to a personal issue). I have experience in the mental health field and experience in sales. The experience that I have in sales was due to the fact that I decided to enter the world of 100% commission as a financial services representative for a large life insurance company. Deciding to enter the financial services industry has been the biggest mistake of my life but that's a story for another day. Before I got into the life insurance industry I wanted to get into marketing because I thought that given my degree in psychology and my desire for a creative outlet that a career in marketing would be a good fit. But of course I had to take a little detour. Anyhow, I'm really interested in marketing and advertising. I was wondering what is the best way to get an entry level job with my background and in this economy without dealing with those no name easy to get into local marketing startup? Any advise or insight into the field of marketing and advertising would be greatly appreciated. Also, thank you for taking the time to read my question and answering it. Best! Ads |

Having a career in advertising and marketing is a good choice because everyone needs marketing. If i were you i would go to college for about 2 years for Global Marketing. For me i started marketing and promoting online first then went and got my bachelors in Marketing then i made alot of money promoting clubs and bars. The company i started with they only charged me a small % when a sale was made.

Consider a social media job. Many companies are hiring staff to work in their social media departments. It's probably the easiest way to break into the marketing industry today. The book shown in the link can help you understand what it takes to find and land a job in social media.
