How to get popular on YouTube?

I've been trying a year almost completely following the rule upload everyday. With good editing most of the time. And following other things people say but I'm still getting no where.
123 videos, with 65 subscribers since 2012. Then I see these people who joined YouTube five months ago with 10 videos and 15k subscribers, not being popular on social media before hand.
What am I doing wrong man?

YOU don't need to upload a video everrrrry single day. Upload once every two days or once every three days as uploading once a day will make you create more rubbish videos as the editing will be rushed.

Relax, I uploaded once a day one time and got little to nowhere. Then I only uploaded once every two days and I ended up with about 160 subscribers in 6 months.
