Suggestions for marketing and promoting your self published books?
I just self-published and am looking into marketing my book. I already plan on selling in a local craft show (though i know its not a normal place for books). I'm looking for any ways to sell and advertise my book, but have a very limited budget. All tips are welcome!

thanks Smile
I self-published on lulu.com. It's a free self publishing site that I'd highly recommend, so I'm not really worried about the losses. I just want to try to get by book read by a few people outside of family and friends. It's called and the waves rose and fell.

um maybe you could get your friends to wear a t-shirt advertising your book or also, you could make screen printed lapel pins with your books name and pass them out to your targeted audience (seniors, children, teens...)

The internet is a popular place to advertise as well. you can make your own website or if you have a lot of friends on a twitter, facebook, myspace just let them know that you published a book and if you would like to get one here is my website....

good luck : D

If you have a limited budget, why did you throw your money away on self-publishing?

Do you have a blog? You could start one. You could also try selling it on amazon or ebay. Is it targeted at a young audience? If so, you could see if you can go in and give a talk at a local school. You are most unlikely to do anything except make a loss, though, I'm afraid.

Step One: Immediately edit this post and insert the URL for where your book can be found. That is free marketing and you would have exposed your book to at least 3 people (the 3 that have answered your question so far).

Start a Facebook page for your book. If you have a personal Facebook page use that to market to your friends and family asking them to become "fans" of your book in turn their friends and family will have the opportunity to become a "fan" of your book as well.
