How do you edit pictures like these?

This is an example of an edit on instagram that I would like to learn how to make. Does anyone know how or what kind of apps are used? It would be greatly appreciated!

I use Photoshop!! it can do anything.

Photoshop & Corel for advance editors but for this kind of simple edits you can use online tools too.

It looks like the first one was made on photoshop only. Three screenshots made to fade into each other with some fancy fonts placed onto them. The second one looks like it was on photoshop first, then the word style was made with this iphone app called wordfoto I believe.

I can not talk about instagram but if I have to make these two designs I will prefer Inkscape or Adobe illustrator. Using Photoshotop will make pixel based images while Inkscape or Adobe illustrator will give the advantage of Vector based design which can be easily enlarged.

Any way if we look at the first image we can see background, upper part of image then lower part of image (transparency to reveal image on the back). Using layers will be easier.

In the second image which I like the most, that is an easy task, first choose the fonts, then draw the design on white background which will let us to delete any un necessary objects such as the woman's hand on the top left near "i" letter. After making design we can add Text. Again we can use layer.
Over all the first image might have taken more time than the second image.

It is not application it is our imagination and creativity when we design tools comes next.
It is always better to make a rough sketch then start design using application of our choice. If you are thinking what is a layer? then think of a transparent sheet or a glass. Draw some part on transparent sheet or glass and put at the bottom, next draw another design and put on the last one, you can see through right, continue doing unless you are done. Finally you will have a design with some layers. When you blend layers it will become one design. You can achieve this kind of work much easily having layer features.
