You may want to try writing exercises of different kinds. Maybe start small by writing descriptive scenes and build up from there. Ex: A diner in LA gets robbed

Also, writing can help you with structure and allow you to be more creative as well as productive.

If you don't want to do that; there are still plenty of other opportunities to harness creativity.

You may even want to gather resources for development whether it be via books, internet articles, etc

Here are a list of Ted talks about creativity:

Elizabeth GilBert: Your Elusive Creative Genius: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86x-u-tz0MA

Julie Burstein: 4 lessons in creativtity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sY0Pf_pfqCI

Amy Tan: Where Does Creativity Hide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8D0pwe4vaQo

You can't try to be funny. That's your first mistake. When one tries it usually falls flat. It's got to come naturally. I guess you haven't found your niche yet, what it is that adds something to the social equation. Maybe you're a good listener. Maybe you're a nice guy that people feel comfortable around, even though you're not the life of the party.

If you're really intent on developing your creative side, you can always read up on that.

Everyone has the potential to be creative! Maybe you put too much pressure on yourself? You don't sound boring and even if you're not creative all the time, you probably have lots of other great qualities! I have periods of being creative and then other times nothing. I feel my most creative when I am happy. All the best to you!

The books "A Whack on the Side of the Head" and "A Kick in the Seat of the Pants" are good for general creativity. Questions like, how can I make it bigger or how can turn something upside down are starting points. For example, what could be funny about a chihuahua the size of a dinosaur?
