Girl I don't know sent me a friend request on Facebook?
Hi so here is what happened, some girl from another state(Kentucky) first poked me on Facebook I didn't think I was friends with her but she was good looking so I said what the hell and poked her back.A few hours later she sent me a message in my inbox saying my name looked familiar and I liked your profile and so on..sounds like a hacker right? I was expecting like 5 messages in 20 seconds but they never came so I said no sry I don't think we know each other etc. But we were actually carrying a decent conversation about my daughter and other things and it ended pretty well we said good night ttyl etc. I noticed several of her friends are from my state with 1 mutual friend but not many are from Kentucky..She is a Cosmo model it says and on her profile she didn't just post pics but also was leaving statuses but didn't seem to be leaving any comments back when others commented on her pics/statuses. She also did have videos of her doing random stuff too..so I was curious think she's real?

She could be, but I say If you don't know her, then there's no reason to friend her!

one of your friends created a fake account after stealing lots of pictures from the real girl's account just to mess with you or test you - it happens all the time - look at the profile creation date, and the date of when her pictures were uploaded... if all of those things happened on the same day, that's a fake profile

Message the profile that sent you the request and ask who they are and how they might know you. It's simple and gets to the point.

Google images. It works well. Look up her Facebook name in Google see what pulls up but to me it sounds fake to me. Also see if any of her photos are tagged with her friends that are on Facebook that's a good give away

It's fake
Cosmo models DO NOT message random guys. They only date famous athletes, musicians and billionaires and are not going to message random guys because of a fear of stalkers. They would also have a Fan page if they were really a Cosmo model. Cosmo only uses top models from major NY agencies

And look at her profile. Any real girl would be tagged by more pictures posted by her friends than she has posted of herself. If her pictures are only posted by her, it's fake. And look at her friends, any real girl who is a Cosmo model would have hundreds of friends, mostly female. Scammers have mostly male friends. And real girls have friends constantly posting things on their walls - "great to see you Friday" or "you have to watch this funny video" or "I know you would love this dress" or "Did you watch Walking Dead this week" -- scammers never have anything like that. They just have men liking their selfies and commenting on how pretty they are

If she's really a Cosmo model you would be able to google her name and find thousands of hits and other pictures. Cosmo doesn't use unknown models - they only use famous runway/editorial models on their pages who have thousands of hits. They would also appear on their agency website and you could call the agency who would tell you that she doesn't live in Kentucky but lives in NYC

This is why you NEVER talk to random people contacting you. Most are scammers who are looking to steal your identity. Most people have enough info on Facebook for anyone to steal their identity. And don't EVER post that you are away from home - whether shopping, at dinner, on vacation, etc. That's the one way to ensure you are going to come back to an empty house because these scammers scan their victims' statuses to find out when they are out to rob them

Facebook has a video chat function. If she is real, she will video chat with you. If she claims she can't or her webcam is broken then you know for sure she's fake as any real girl, especially a model, would insist on a video chat with you to make sure YOU were not a fake profile
