How do I draw on a desktop?

Ok, see, I have this fanfiction that I want to make into a comic on devianart. And i asked if anyone could do it for me, but they want to be paid(I was expecting that) and I dont have money like that. I can draw OFF computer, meaning I can draw on paper, but on the computer is a whole different story. It is a Hunger Games fanfic parody, any suggestions i can use for drawing on computer? Thanks!

this is REALLY getting to be too much!

the REAL way to draw is on paper, and it's called "drawing". it is not called "off computer". the fact that you have to clarify by saying this ",,,draw OFF computer, meaning I can draw on paper" is ridiculous beyond comprehension. try googling drawing software or do a search here. this place is loaded with people who think art is only a form of digital expression.

GIMP is a free downloadable graphics software. It's been around for many years. i haven't tried it myself but co-workers have it. They say it's ok (especially for free software) just have to get used to the interface (how to use it, how the menus look).

Another software you might check into is very similar to Photoshop, but wayyyy cheaper. It's called Pixelmator.

CNET has a free trial you can download for Pixelmator, if you have the correct operating system to try it.

1. You can draw it on regular paper, then scan it, (Or take a picture of it) and trace it on the computer. Works very well for me!
2. Gimp 2 is AMAZING. Once you figure out how to use it, it's great. I've tried the free trial of Paint Tool Sai and that's pretty good as well, but it disappears after some time and Gimp is free and stays that way forever!
3. You might not want to do this, but an easier way to draw on the computer also is to go on Ebay.com and find a cheap drawing tablet. I got a simple one for 29 dollars and it works well. It's like drawing on paper, but it appears on the screen.

I just want to start off by saying "Hashtags" don't work on here. So don't use them.

There's a few ways to go about this: Buy a good tablet (you find them either relatively cheap or fairly expensive) and download a program- GIMP, Paint Tool Sai (has a 30 day trial), Sumo Paint (it does tend to glitch a bit, but it's still good), Paint.Net, Photoshop. Yes, Photoshop can be expensive, but they have a 30 day trial and if you look around, you'll find either a pirated version or a version someone may have extra of or don't want anymore and you could use (not sure if that works or not). Or, you can get a free Elements disk with a tablet.

Or, you use your mouse. There are plenty of tutorials out there, though they're a bit hard to find, meant for mouse users.

You can scan your pictures that you do on paper, take a picture of them, or go 100% digital. Your choice at works best for you.
