Is it safe to download and use Facebook app on my phone?

I have a nokiac2-01 its not a a smart phone, just a fairly basic phone but has 3g internet and you can download lots of apps for it from the nokia ovi store. One app is the facebook app
its not really needed as you can go to facebook on my phone using the opera browser on it. but just thought id ask about the facebook app anyway, its made by facebook, so i assume its ok ?

yes its as safe as on any phone it is the same app on the iphone it is well protected from hackers and protected from maleware
