How do I create a Facebook trivia app?

Hi, I want to create a Facebook trivia app. I've never built an app or website before.

I wish to know what programming languages I need to use for creating this app. I also want to know what is the best set of tools to use to develop this app. If you know any resources (e.g. past examples, tutorials, and articles related to this), please post this as well. In short, any help will be appreciated.

JavaScript for any client side component and absolutely any language you like for the server side component (subject to what is supported by the server you host the application on).
