Facebook notification bar?

On the right side of the screen on my fb (facebook) there is a notification thingy-majig that shows what everyone is doing, like when they comment on or like someone's status, etc., even if it has nothing to do with me. Does anyone know what this is?? It just showed up today and is there any way I can get rid of it? My friend said hers wasn't like that...
Its not the little box that pops up on the bottom left when you get a notification, it's a long box on the right side that takes up the entire side of the screen...it shows stuff that has nothing to do with me...
One more time, it's on the RIGHT SIDE! And brooke, yeah my chat is all messed up...it only shows certain people. And it's not on my phone, it's on my computer.

On the right side? Mine's on the left I really don't get what your talking about because mine's on the left... it's not supposed to be on the right... O.o

This shows what your friends are doing because Facebook lets you connect with friends. If you don't want to see it just scroll to that notification and you'll see an x. You can ignore it.

1. I think you mean notifications on the left . . . .
2. If you don't want to get notifications that don't anything to do with you this is what you do.

Log in and press account settings (press account and it will be some drop down thing then press account settings its the 2nd option)
Then press notifications (it's on the top and it's the third one) and just uncheck things you don't want to get a notification on. Like for example if you don't want to get a notification that you were tagged in a picture that you're NOT in just uncheck 'Tags you in photo'

Mine isn't like that either, on the side that is.
Not sure if you using pc or phone. What I can tell you...say, for example, you comment on a picture someone posted, when the next person makes a comment....you'll get a notification. If you've "liked" a page, everything that is posted there, you'll get a notification. I "liked" LiveSTONG, every time there's a post, I get it. So on & on. If you leave a comment on a business type thing and someone "likes it" you get notification.
I don't know how to get rid of it. At the bottom of your fb page is a help center, if you go there they'll help you out.

I know exactly what you mean! Mine is doing that too! I do not like it. Also my chat looks weird. Does your chat look weird? And when you scroll down your newsfeed does the blue bar at the top stay put?
