How do you recover your Yahoo password?
I do not know my password - or rather I truly believe that I do but it no longer works - and have long ago forgotten the password for the back-up e-mail address. To further complicate matters, I don't have a cell phone (I have always used my sister's cell number for registering). I DO know any and all security questions that may have been set up.

Is there any hope for me? Please tell me what to do step by step and assume no 'computer knowledge' on my part. This is a BIG deal for me. I'd appreciate any and all constructive help.

Thanks.
I cannot get to a point where I am prompted to answer security questions. How might I get there? All I get is a message saying the password was sent to an e-mail addy that quite frankly I am unsure of the exact address, much less IT'S password.

This is a huge deal for me. I am assuming my account was compromised and now I am unable to use the computer. Not to play the pity card but more to explain my intense... frustration is that I am stuck inside pretty much 24/7 recovering from colon cancer. The surgeries aren't even over though the cancer is gone, praise God. So, knowing I would be stuck inside for probably the rest of this year I spent over 1,000$ on a fancy computer so that I could game on it. I know very little of technology and had a friend write up a list of components and then had iBuyPower build the machine for me. I've had it for 4 days now, this being day 4, and have had NOTHING but problems with it. Geek Squad has visited 3 times and we thought we ha
I am a brand new 'gamer' so, additionally, any resources re that you might throw my way are also welcome. I am only playing a game called World of Tanks so far, but will expand. Turn based strategy is what I think I'd like best.

Thanks, again,
Jeremy

If you forgot your password, Yahoo ID, or you believe your account may have been compromised go here:
https://edit.yahoo.com/forgotroot/

Note that if you have an cellphone number or an alternate email address on file one of them must be used. You do not get to enter the secret question answers unless you do not have phone or email. That is probably a good idea since someone can guess the secret answers if they know you.

Here's how to recover your password using a mobile phone number, an alternate email address, or by answering your security questions.

Recover your Yahoo! ID or password using your alternate email address or security questions - http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?locale=en...ions=false

If you do not have a non-Yahoo! alternate email address, valid mobile number, or cannot verify your security questions you will need to contact Yahoo Customer Care, the following contact options are available:

Call toll-free US (Toll Free): 1-800-318-0612 US
International: 408-916-2100
Twitter - https://twitter.com/YahooCare
Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/YahooCustomerCare

Click one of the links above and then click the "Contact Customer Care" link under the Quick Links section to the right of your screen. This should open the Yahoo Help form.

The Selected product should be "Yahoo Account"

"Under Topic" select "Password and sign in"
"Under Sub-topic" select "unable to sign in"
"Under Recommended options" Click on the Email link.

Complete the form. If you don't remember your Security Question or Security Answer enter "unknown". Yahoo will use the information you provide to verify you are the actual owner of the account. If they can't verify your information it's unlikely you will be able to recover your account.

Here's some guidelines for creating a secure, strong password - http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=cont...OD_MAIL_ML

Once you're able to change your password it would be a good idea to review your security questions and make changes if you don't remember your answers.

Changing your security questions - http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?locale=en...id=SLN2031

I recommend using a password manager like Keepass or LastPass to create and store strong unique passwords for the sites you visit. You can also save notes like your secret questions and answers to the password entries. LastPass can automatically log you in to any web site you have stored in its database.
