is it illegal to steal a photo?
So I have a Facebook page and I upload edits of TV shows and movies and stuff. I put my page name on it. Anyway, someone came and saved all my pictures, cropped my name out, put them up on their FB and claimed that they made them. They're not claiming that they are those people (I'm pretty sure that's illegal) just that they made the photos. Well anyway I contacted the person and they said sorry and gave me credit for all the pictures, but anyway, I was wondering if this is legal?? Like, could someone get into any serious trouble for doing this?
Oh I see. So it's the kind of trouble where you could get banned from the site but not where there'd be police involved or anything?

It is illegal. It is illegal for example to find a photo of a celebrity online and then copy it and put it on your FB. Obviously everyone does it. If the photos are your own and someone steals them for their own use it's the same, illegal. No one is really going to get into any real trouble for doing it but site administrators will ask you or them to remove certain content if it becomes a nuisance.
