Does facebook makes use of users chat data?

I heard from a friend that Facebook uses the users chat data for advertisement purposes as well. Probably in an indirect manner or something. Anyway, can someone confirm this to me please?

According to Facebook, they don't share your information.
If Facebook wants to share your data, your location, gender, date of birth, interests, etc will be more important for Facebook to share with advertisement parties, rather than your chat history.
