OK, so here's the deal I'm gay and I like this guy at my school (he has recently come out as gay)
And I want to get to know him more and become friends with him first, I've known him through school for 5 years and he knows me but where not 'friends'. He's in only one of my classes so its hard to talk to him and at lunch he hangs around with his friends.

So basically i need some advice to try and become friends with him then so I can tell him I like him.
I have him on Facebook but I am so shy to talk to him because he might tell someone.

Thanks in advance -M

I am guessing no one knows about your sexuality as you're scared he would 'tell someone'?
If that's the way you feel, how can you ever hope to have a relationship with anyone?
You need to own who you are and don't be ashamed! Take a leaf out of this guy's book. Let family and friends know that you are gay. It's the first step to accepting yourself. The truth will set you free.
If you are too nervous to contact him on Facebook it seems impossible that you will have the nerve to talk to him in person. For that reason, Facebook may be your best bet to get to know him and form a friendship. You can even ask him about his experiences with coming out and whether or not people have been supportive.
Either way - you need to remember that he is in the same boat as you. Regardless of whether he might feel the same about you, he knows what it's like to be gay - I very much doubt that he would blab your secret against your wishes. He knows what it's like in your position. Good luck!
