I'm new to smartphones and need help about data?
I just got my first smart phone. Its the iphone 4s. I don't really use it for much just snap chat and texts and no imessage just regular texts. Do regular texts use data? I know to connect to wifi but when i go outside do the apps i have use data? Do i have to officially close any apps or if im not immediately using them does it still use data? I have 2G a month to use. Someone just give me the run down of what uses data and what doesn't! Thanks!!!

No, texting is meaningless for data. Also, search the appstore for your carrier name because they all have free apps that let you monitor exactly how much data you used.

You basically paying the monthly fee for the regular text so it has nothing to do with Data. You do not need to turn on data for regular text unless your using imessage or facebook messenger, twitter etc.... Most apps do require data to work. Example like facebook, twitter, internet, gps and some games,etc..... It's always better to to kill off the apps that you not using anymore. Because not only it saves your data but also save your battery. If you really want to save data then It's better to just turn off mobile data if you not using it than killing the apps one by one. Even if you leave the Data on but not using the phone. It doesn't really use that much of data unless someone keep messaging from some apps you or your downloading many apps at the same time. It's like saying you leave the phone on and waiting someone to call you. Although you not using it but it's still killing the battery because phone is still searching for the signals. If you forget to turn off Data while your not using it then don't worry. It's not gonna use that much of data.
