is there automatic friend request on facebook ?

I don't have a facebook account ,now i do some business
with some overseas vendors using a g-mail account , now recently i was on my wife's facebook account and i saw 2 friend requests by two of my vendors
now the strange part is , my wife uses a alias name on facebook and a uses a yahoo e-mail address ,
now how is it possable to have received these friend request ?

you can search people by email. but you have to accept every friend request manually.
