Why do christians source these questionable "homosexual statistics"?
Hello Christians, I ask you read this VERY carefully.

I am constantly seeing a range of statistics that are constantly sourced in christian forums ect. Christians often distort the Bell and Weignberg "homosexualities" study, which compromises of the number of sexual partners of homoesxuals in the 1970's. KEEP IN MIND: The research was carried out on those who were perhaps more "sexually active" than the average homosexual, so the data is very skewed and unreliable. Statistics like this came out of the data:

"Alan P. Bell and Martin S. Weinberg studied 574 white male homosexuals, 100 percent of whom had already had at least three sexual partners, 97 percent at least five, 75 percent at least one hundred, and 28 percent at least one thousand"

In the study is this statement:
“. . . given the extreme circumstances which discourage homosexuals from participating in research studies, it is unlikely that any investigator will ever be in a position to say that this or that is true of a given percentage of all homosexuals.”

Note, the respondents were those who volunteered after seeing an ad in the back of a gay porn magazine in the 70's.

NEW DATA:
A 2013 study showed the average number of partners a gay man had in a year was 2.3, which is down from 2.9 in 2012.
Source: http://www.aidsmeds.com/articles/sex_par...entson=yes

So on average a gay man has 2.3 partners per year.

Given the fact that the commonly referred statistics on what christians often call a "homosexual lifestyle" are mind numbingly inaccurate, why do christians continue to cite them, and preach them like they are the truth. I thought christians were supposed to follow truths? It seems a lot of you just make up lies and repeat them even though you know they are not true. Its dehumanising and slandering of other individuals in our society. Quite frankly, I'm not sure religion could be a force for good at all, merely a medium that can be used for both good and bad depending on how you want to interpret it.
Im not saying all Christians by the way, perhaps more extreme religious zealots.

"Note, the respondents were those who volunteered after seeing an ad in the back of a gay porn magazine in the 70's."

And somehow, this study is supposed to be reliable. I would laugh every time a homophobe brought this subject up if they didn't take it seriously.

Like creative accounting, statistics can be used to make anyone's point. It all depends on what numbers you use and how questions are asked when individuals are polled. Questions can be skewed to obtain a desired answer, therefore the numbers you want to run.

I can't say that I've ever heard of those so-called homosexual statistics, and if they were on a Christian forum then I wouldn't trust them anyway. Btw I don't call it a homosexual lifestyle, I've always hated that term.

Dehumanizing and slandering? Have you SEEN what homosexuals call Christians?

Christians attempt to warn you of the consequences of your actions, both in this life and the next, with regard to the choice of living a homosexual "lifestyle". If we didn't care about you, and your eventual destination, we would just shrug our shoulders and let you slide off to the lake of fire without a comment.

But we are commanded to give warning to those in peril.

Ezekiel 33:7-9 "So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul."

The consequences of your decisions in this life will affect the default location in which you will spend eternity. I would think that you would be grateful we care, rather than accuse us of making up lies.

Why do atheist and pro-homosexuals source these questionable 'Homosexual Statistics"?

You view those with Bias presuppositions, Emotional Health
Homosexuals more likely to suffer from depression: "A new study in the United Kingdom has revealed that homosexuals are about 50% more likely to suffer from depression and engage in substance abuse than the rest of the population, reports Health24.com....the risk of suicide jumped over 200% if an individual had engaged in a homosexual lifestyle...the lifespan of a homosexual is on average 24 years shorter than that of a heterosexual...While the Health 24 article suggested that homosexuals may be pushed to substance abuse and suicide because of anti-homosexual cultural and family pressures, empirical tests have shown that there is no difference in homosexual health risk depending on the level of tolerance in a particular environment. Homosexuals in the United States and Denmark - the latter of which is acknowledged to be highly tolerant of homosexuality - both die on average in their early 50's, or in their 40's if AIDS is the cause of death. The average age for all residents in either country ranges from the mid-to-upper-70s."(onenewsnow.com/Culture/Default.aspx?id=255614)
Professional psychiatrists say homosexual men are less happy: "A major study by Bell and Weinberg revealed that 78% of male homo-sexual "affairs" (relationships entered into with an intent of commitment) lasted less than three years. Only 12% lasted five years or longer. Study by Alan P. Bell and Martin S. Weinberg, “Homosexualities: A Study of Diversity Among Men and Women”, (New York, Simon and Shuster, 1978) p.314 Certainly, this shows a pattern of broken relationships that must be painful for many. 73% of the psychiatrists in the American Psychiatric Association who responded to a survey by Harold I. Lief said that they thought that homosexual men are less happy than others. 70% percent said they believed that the homosexuals' problems were due more to personal conflicts than to social stigmatization. Study by Harold I. Lief, Sexual Survey Number 4: Current Thinking on Homosexuality, Medical Aspects of Human Sexuality 2 (1977), pp.110- 111 (Cited in Growing Up Straight by George A. Reker)." Psychological Health
High rate of psychological counseling among lesbians: "In a national health care survey 75% of the nearly 2000 lesbian respondents reported they had pursued psychological counselling of some kind, many for treatment of long-term depression or sadness. J. Bradford et al., "National Lesbian Health Care Survey: Implications for Mental Health Care," Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology 62 (1994): 239, cited in Health Implications Associated with Homosexuality, p. 81...." (exodusglobalalliance.org/ishomosexualityhealthyp60.php)
"Homosexual men are 6 times more likely to have attempted suicide than are heterosexual men. Study by Bell and Weinberg, “Homosexualities…”, Table 21.12" (exodusglobalalliance.org/ishomosexualityhealthyp60.php)
