why not both?
both are social networks
both are good
everyone has both

If your trying to choose between one
i hope this will help you out:

Facebook:

PROS

-It doesn't have as many bugs as Myspace, so it runs faster, and your messages are less likely to get lost like on Myspace
-It is one of the best ways to organize and share photos
-It is constantly changing and adding new features
-It allows you to show your "status", so people are kept up to date with what you are doing.
-You can show events that you are attending
-It's easier to find your real friends on Facebook, because the search engine is better
-Facebook isn't cluttered with annoying graphics and advertisements

CONS

-People tend to use social networking sites as a replacement for real human interaction. The more you talk to someone on Facebook, the less likely you are to hang out with them in real life.
-It's harder to find new friends on Facebook. The search is meant to only find people who you are already friends with in real life. You can't do an advanced search for people outside of your networks.
-There are information fields on Facebook that could potentially make it easier for people to stalk you if you aren't careful. These fields include your email, phone number, and address. You can hide these from certain users or not enter them at all, but many people probably enter that info without thinking, making available to anyone on their friends list.

Twitter:

It can be narcissistic. Does anyone care what I had for lunch?
It can be boring. Is my average day so exciting that I have to share its details with the world?
It can be redundant. I already have a daily blog. Why do I need Twitter?
It can be time-consuming. It will distract from other, more important tasks.
It can be dangerous. Letting someone know where I am at all times is like legalized stalking.
It can contribute to the dumbing down of society. Most people don’t have the attention span for a well-crafted argument in a book. The blog is a step-down. Are we taking an even further step down, demanding our information in bite-sized chunks?
I still think each of these concerns are valid. But I now have a Twitter account for some other reasons.

The rapidness of disseminating information. A friend of mine linked to my recent article in Christianity Today regarding the Southern Baptist Convention and the Clark Logan controversy. Within an hour it was being passed along to dozens of Twitter followers and hundreds of readers. I was amazed at how quickly the information went out.
The ability to share interesting articles. I usually save my best links for Friday’s blog post, “In the Blogosphere.” Twitter enables me to link other articles that might not be included in Friday’s list.
The importance of conciseness. The brilliance of Twitter is its limitation of 140 characters. Most blogs are surfed, not read. Putting out a brief quote will probably be read by more people than a long blog post.
Connecting with others. I am on Twitter primarily because I get to “follow” other people on Twitter. It keeps me connected to others who put out edifying “tweets” and who pass along interesting information.
Boosting the blog. It takes a lot of work to maintain a daily blog. Linking to a blog post on Twitter gives my “followers” the opportunity to pass the article on to others who may benefit from it.

Facebook, because it has amazing games where I can play all day. Smile I recently deactivated it because the second semester of college has just begun. Pretty sucky, eh. As for Twitter, it's just okay.
