Okay so I don't know very much about Josh, but I know about Harry, Niall, Louis, Liam, and Zayn. So maybe I can help you out.

Harry has said that if you write something then do a big space in the middle of your tweet and then write something at the bottom (like follow me), that it stands out to him. He also said he likes when tweets have lots of smiley faces in them.

Niall has said he doesn't really like when someone asks him to follow him, but likes when someone tweets him asking him a nice, simple question (ex. How are you?, How was your day, etc.)

Louis said he likes when people just plain and simple tweet "Follow me./ Would you mind following me?"

As I already said Liam is known to do a lot of following sprees. He'll tweet that he's doing it and then he'll just follow as many people as Twitter will let him. You just have to ask. Just watch his tweets because he does it all the time. In fact, he just did one Wednesday.

Zayn also sometimes does the following sprees, but he doesn't really tweet about it. If he's retweeted a lot of girls asking him to follow him you can most likely safely assume he's doing a following spree.

Then of course you can tweet any of the boys a nice message asking them to follow you and you might get lucky, but it probably won't happen if you just do it once so you'll probably have to be persistent.

Sorry I don't really know much about Josh so I can't really help you out there, but hopefully this helps you get followed by the rest of the boys.
