At what age did you realize you felt out of place with "trends"?

At what age did you realize you felt out of place with "trends"?
I am curious about this question because it seems that I no longer seem to be interested or fit into many "trends". I still am aware of who's who and what may be fashionable or try and keep up with the latest music etc. But I also find that I don't like most of it.

Even here on Yahoo Answers, if I go into certain categories I'm only inundated with questions about Beyonce and Jay-Z, or what slim jeans go best with Ugg boots. What is the latest in Emo style haircuts and who are the Kardashians sleeping with this week. I don't know..... Or maybe, just maybe..... I don't care.....

I've reached that age that my parents were when I thought they were oblivious to the world and what I thought was important. I remember asking my Mother if she had heard the latest song by Madonna or making her watch some cool video on MTV, that she really couldn't care less about, but watched it because I was interested in it.

No we live in an age with the http://www.com's and the youths of my family always have a Youtube video that "I HAVE To See". And I watch it because they are interested.

So how old were you when these realizations hit you? When did you become your parents age?

For me the signs have been there since I was around 35, but the realization and awareness really hit home this year when I turned 42.
@StarrFyrre - That's what I'm talking about.... Even the responses I've received from people in their 20's, they don't get it and have no idea what I was asking.

I honestly feel that way now, I'm 22. But this only recently happened for me, maybe half a year ago. I just don't relate to or enjoy any of the trends going on in fashion/movies/music anymore.

I never follow trends, but realized this when I was in 5th grade.

I think your talking about maturity and not necessarily age. Maybe you matured late at 42.

In my early to mid 20's when I busy having and raising kids (2 boys). I was so out of touch that when they were invited to girls' birthday parties I had no idea what toys girls even played with.

I have no idea who has a hit song or what the song is, the only time I listen to the radio is when I'm the car and most of the time I'm just waiting for the local weather report.

I'm 53 and don't follow fashion trends, at my age I just want clothes that are comfortable and will last me from year to year without worrying if I'm in style or not.

I haven't watched MTV since the 80's when it actually WAS Music Television.

I think reality TV is waste of time, I don't care about their fake, indulgent on camera lives any more than they would care about my mundane day-to-day life.

I don't Twitter, who cares what I think or have to say? And I don't care about what meaningless crap celebrities have to say.

I only have Facebook because my family is too lazy to pick up the phone and call so I keep up with them there. I don't have like 800 "friends" I don't know.
