how do I get the facebook timeline?

Hi I just opend a new facebook account and am wondering how I get the timeline I tryed to go to the page that is suppost to give it to you but the green button isnt showing up that is suppost to let you have it what are the easy steps to getting the time line it keeps taking me around in circles. please help and i had the time lin on my old one and loved it but had to make a new one i got hacked.

just go to one of your friend's time line and in the top it says update or somthing click it and YAY you have a timeline
